RAMALLAH: The official spokesman for the presidency Nabil Abu Rudeina Monday said that it is time to recognize the Palestinian state and obtain full membership by a decision of the UN Security Council, because ‘it is the only way to achieve security and stability for all.’

Abu Rudeina added that it is necessary to establish a clear mechanism and commit to specific steps and international guarantees within a specific time frame to recognize the Palestinian state, because positive statements alone are no longer enough, and ‘this is the appropriate and decisive moment to spare the region from the scourge of endless wars.’

The US must force Israel to stop its aggression and war against the Palestinian people, because the alternative is chaos, playing with fire, and crossing red lines in an already turbulent region that is vulnerable to a comprehensive explosion, he added.

The official spokesman for the presidency said that the countries of the world are required to take practical and quick steps to get out of
the current crisis that is ravaging the Middle East and the world, provided that these steps are taken in accordance with the resolutions of international legitimacy to end the occupation and establish the State of Palestine with East Jerusalem as its capital on the 1967 borders, and not to ‘divide matters or allow displacement.’
