Japan funds project for installation of solar panel system for women’s vocational training center in Al-Bireh

RAMALLAH: Ambassador for Palestinian Affairs and Representative of Japan to Palestine, Nakashima Yoichi, visited Inash Al-Usra Society in Al-Bireh City, in the Ramallah governorate, to celebrate the completion of a project funded by the Government of Japan through Japan’s Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP).

The Government of Japan extended a grant of $88,090 to the Inash Al-Usra Society to improve the educational environment for the students by installing a solar panel system to provide sufficient power.

Upon the completion of the project, about 424 people, including students and other facility staff members, will directly benefit by improving the educational environment in the center, according to a press statement issued by the Representative Office of Japan to Palestine.

In his speech, the Representative of Japan to Palestine emphasized Japan’s firm commitment to supporting the Palestinian people from a human security perspective as well as the importance of implementing socia
l and economic development projects needed for Palestinian communities.

Since 1993, the Government of Japan has extended its official development assistance to approximately $2.4 billion to the Palestinians. GGP projects have been formulated in collaboration with the Palestinian Authority through the Ministry of Finance since 2010.

The Society of Inash Al-Usra is a Palestinian voluntary organization. It offers services and programs to Palestinian women and other marginalized sectors of the community as a means of empowering them and enhancing the family institution, thus contributing to the development of Palestinian society as a whole.
