Amman: Minister of Government Communication and official spokesperson for the government Muhannad Mubaideen underscored the profound and enduring nature of the relationship between the Kingdom of Jordan and the State of Qatar.

In an interview with the Qatar News Agency (QNA), Mubaideen emphasized that these ties, established over decades, are rooted in strong foundational values and a commitment to addressing Arab issues and crises in a unified manner.

Mubaideen, in his interview with QNA, elaborated on the substantial harmony in the positions of the two countries, particularly concerning Arab and Islamic causes. This harmony, he noted, is based on mutual respect, balance, and a reciprocal recognition of the interests of both nations and the broader Arab and Islamic communities.

Highlighting the nature of the relationship between Amman and Doha, Mubaideen pointed out that it has always been robust and productive, underlined by a shared Arab outlook that has recently begun to manifest more prominently in po
litical, cultural, economic, and social spheres.

He drew attention to the continuous growth of Qatari investments in Jordan and the significant presence of a respected Jordanian community in Qatar.

Mubaideen also addressed the aggression on Gaza, detailing Jordan’s coordinated approach with Qatar from the beginning of the war. This coordination aimed at establishing a consensus among Arab nations against warfare and the suffering of civilians. He praised the joint diplomatic efforts of the Jordanian and Qatari foreign ministries, which were instrumental in the United Nations General Assembly adopting a resolution to stop the war.

He acknowledged the Qatari Foreign Ministry’s significant role in parallel with Jordan’s diplomatic efforts, represented by the Arab Committee emanating from the Riyadh Summit. This collaboration involved consultations with numerous countries concerned with the issue, leading to the General Assembly’s resolution.

Furthermore, Mubaideen appreciated Qatar’s contributions within the
Security Council, especially regarding humanitarian truces, the release of prisoners, and other relief efforts, all of which consistently receive support from Jordan.

He underscored that Qatar’s backing of Jordan and Egypt’s stance on issues such as displacement and the resolution of the Palestinian issue is integral in forming a unified Arab position to support the Palestinian cause and condemn the aggression on Gaza, as well as the restrictions imposed on Palestinians in the West Bank.

He emphasized Qatar’s clear support for the Jordanian Hashemite custodianship over the Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem/ Al-Quds Al-Sharif, underlining the alignment of the two leaderships and their capacity to adopt clear policies and positions on issues threatening the Palestinian cause and regional peace.

Mubaideen further stated that since the first day of the aggression on Gaza, Jordan has focused its policies and stance on ending the destruction, halting the war, and opening avenues for the sustainable d
elivery of humanitarian and relief aid. This stance was articulated by His Majesty King Abdullah II at the Riyadh summit, where he stressed the need for an international mobilization to facilitate the delivery of aid.

He added that Jordan’s clear message has been the necessity of an international position to pressure Israel to allow aid into the Gaza Strip, despite challenges in persuading Israel to cease the war.

Today, Jordan continues its efforts through the King Hussein Bridge and the aid coordinated by the Jordanian Hashemite Charitable Organization to reach the Rafah crossing and then enter Gaza, in addition to airdrops on the Jordanian field hospital in Khan Yunis.

Mubaideen also mentioned that confidence in Jordan’s relief efforts has led international activists to call for Jordan to conduct repeated air strikes with aid on various areas in the Gaza Strip, reflecting the effectiveness and importance of these operations.

He highlighted that Jordan’s support for the Palestinian people extends beyond
Gaza. Jordanian aid is also present in the West Bank, evidenced by the field hospital in Nablus, and includes medical aid and supplies of medicines, foodstuffs, wheat, and grains. Additionally, children from Gaza are being cared for at the King Hussein Cancer Center Hospital, showcasing Jordan’s humanitarian commitment.

Mubaideen continued by critiquing the Western stance on the Palestinian issue. He argued that it unfairly favors Israel and fails to acknowledge that Israeli policies, in violation of international conventions, have significantly pressured Palestinians and triggered the Al-Aqsa Flood. He accused the West of supporting Israel from the onset of the war with self-defense justifications, while ignoring its role in establishing and nurturing the occupying force in the region.

This, he stated, has ended Palestinian hopes, occupied their lands, undermined their security, destroyed their homelands, and resulted in their displacement within and beyond historic Palestinian territories. Mubaideen also
pointed out the West’s efforts to create divisions between the “Arabs of 48” and the people of the West Bank and Gaza Strip, viewing the Western position as a supportive and foundational sponsor of Israel’s political project in the region.

Concerning economic matters, Mubaideen emphasized Jordan’s potential as a fertile environment for attracting investment and growth. He highlighted the Kingdom’s social growth rate, diverse consumption patterns, and the need for Arab support in building development investments. He also mentioned the advantages of investing in Jordan, such as security, political, and legislative stability.

Mubaideen concluded that the Jordanian economy has demonstrated its ability to competently overcome various crises, as acknowledged by major international financial institutions and sovereign debt classification agencies. He underscored that Jordan continues its reform programs for the national economy in collaboration with the International Monetary Fund, showcasing effective management
and a successful track record in crisis management, thereby providing a strong incentive for investment in the country.
