Jordan Launches Free E-Learning Platform to Aid Palestinian Students

Amman: In a move to bolster educational access for Palestinian students amid ongoing disruptions, Jordan has launched a free e-learning platform in collaboration with the World Islamic Sciences and Education University (WISE) and Jo Academy. This initiative, unveiled at a signing ceremony in Amman, aims to provide access to the Palestinian curriculum through a mobile application, particularly targeting students in Gaza, the West Bank, and Jerusalem. According to Jordan News Agency, the agreement was formalized by WISE President Jaafar Fanatseh, Palestinian Minister of Education Amjad Barham, and Jo Academy CEO Ala Jarrar. The launch event was also attended by Jordan's Minister of Education, Azmi Mahafzah, and UNDP representative Mutaz Dawabsheh, underlining the broad support for the initiative. The mobile application is designed for students from first grade to twelfth grade, with a special focus on those in Gaza, where educational activities have been severely hampered due to internet outages and infrastru ctural damage caused by the Israeli aggression. The platform aims to maintain educational continuity for over 600,000 students, offering the Palestinian Ministry of Education the capability to issue grade completion certificates. Barham noted that the initiative is part of a broader royal directive to support Palestinian resilience in multiple spheres, including education. The platform promises to deliver the full Palestinian curriculum, ensuring students' right to education despite the ongoing conflict. Fanatseh emphasized the platform's resilience, allowing students to access educational materials even during internet service disruptions. Jarrar highlighted the app's comprehensive offerings, which include various multimedia materials and electronic exams to evaluate student progress. The WISE School platform has already been operational for three weeks, assisting approximately 231,750 students in continuing their education.
