Russia Today” reported, citing a Jordanian military source, that armed clashes took place between border guard forces and armed groups of smugglers on the northern border, resulting in the injury and arrest of a number of smugglers and the thwarting of drug and weapons smuggling.

The source confirmed that, “Since 2:00 a.m. on Saturday morning, armed clashes have been taking place between Jordanian border guard forces and large armed groups of smugglers, and the armed groups are now being expelled into Syria.”

The source stated that these clashes “are continuing until the moment, and that the armed forces are following the movements of these groups and their attempts to destabilize national security, and will do everything necessary to deter and pursue them wherever they are.”
