Jordan Valley Authority Cracks Down on Water Thefts

Jordan Valley, Jordan – The Jordan Valley Authority (JVA) has successfully curtailed new instances of water theft along the King Abdullah Canal (KAC) in the Northern Jordan Valley, specifically in the Al-Qarn and Abu Sido areas.

According to Jordan News Agency, water authorities in the Northern and Central Jordan Valley undertook operations to remove illegal connections to the KAC. This action is part of a broader campaign to preserve Jordan’s water resources by stopping illegal water siphoning, which impacts the fair distribution of water to farmers. The campaign involved the removal of pipeline connections buried in the KAC’s lands, which were illegally withdrawing water for irrigation of lands that do not have water rights. The JVA also stated that legal measures would be taken against the violators in accordance with existing regulations.
