Amman – Jordan recently cast its vote in favor of a United Nations resolution affirming the permanent sovereignty of the Palestinian people in the occupied territories, including East Jerusalem and the Arab population in the occupied Syrian Golan Heights, over their natural resources.

According to Jordan News Agency, adopted by the Second Committee of the General Assembly, 151 countries voted in favor, with 6 opposing and 11 abstaining. The resolution reasserts the “inalienable rights of the Palestinian people and the population of the occupied Syrian Golan Heights to their natural resources, including land, water, and energy resources.” Furthermore, Jordan supported a committee resolution holding Israel responsible for the oil spill on the beaches in Lebanon.
