Amman: The Jordanian-Algerian Parliamentary Committee engaged in discussions on Sunday with Algerian Ambassador Abdulkarim Behha, exploring avenues to bolster cooperation and strengthen relations across diverse sectors, with a particular focus on parliamentary collaboration.

Committee Chairwoman MP Marwa Saoub underscored the enduring and historical ties between Jordan and Algeria, emphasizing their mutual commitment to advancing the interests of both nations, their respective populations, and central regional concerns, prominently the Palestinian issue.

Saoub further remarked on the distressing events unfolding in the Gaza Strip, condemning the Israeli occupation army’s perpetration of abuse and war crimes against the Palestinian people.

Deputy Speaker of the Lower House of Parliament Mayada Shreim reiterated Jordan’s unwavering stance on the Palestinian cause, echoing the sentiments expressed by His Majesty King Abdullah II in various regional and international forums. Shreim emphasized the unity, both a
mong the populace and the government, in condemning the war crimes and acts of genocide in the Gaza Strip.

MP Rima Amoush disclosed that the Lower House has taken a decisive step by assigning its legal committee to initiate a comprehensive review of agreements with the Israeli occupation. This move aligns with the unified official and popular position in support of the people in occupied Palestine.

Ambassador Behha conveyed Algeria’s eagerness to advance cooperation in various domains and expressed gratitude for Jordan’s significant role in advocating for central regional issues, particularly the Palestinian cause.

Behha affirmed Algeria’s commitment to fostering collaboration and praised Jordan’s dedication to supporting shared regional concerns.
