Jordanian Prime Minister Highlights King Abdullah’s Efforts to End Gaza Conflict

Prime Minister Bisher Khasawneh of Jordan briefed key parliamentary figures on Monday about King Abdullah’s intensive efforts to halt the Israeli military campaign in Gaza and to facilitate the sustained delivery of humanitarian aid. The briefing was given to Lower House Speaker Ahmad Safadi, members of the permanent office, and heads of parliamentary blocs and committees.

According to Jordan News Agency, Khasawneh condemned the Israeli aggression in Gaza, characterizing it as a blatant violation of war rules, international law, and humanitarian standards. He expressed dismay over Israel’s seeming impunity and the global community’s silence regarding its violations against Palestinian civilians, emphasizing that Palestinian lives should be valued equally to others.

The Prime Minister reiterated Jordan’s unwavering stance against the spilling of Palestinian blood, emphasizing the strong bond with the Palestinian people. He stated that Jordan’s position, aligning with public sentiment, political parties, and all institutions, is firmly united behind King Abdullah’s honorable and persistent efforts from the onset of the conflict to stop the violence and ensure continuous humanitarian aid.

Khasawneh addressed attempts by a minority to distract from the Israeli aggression and crimes, affirming the nation’s unanimous condemnation of the attacks and the importance of delivering humanitarian aid. He also emphasized the right to “disciplined expressions” of protest within legal boundaries, commending the security forces for their handling of anti-war demonstrations without any arrests.

The Prime Minister highlighted the devastating human toll of the conflict, noting that approximately 10,000 lives, mostly children and women, were lost, with many still buried under rubble. He pointed out that ambulances and relief workers were also targeted, contradicting claims of self-defense.

Khasawneh underscored King Abdullah’s tireless efforts in rallying international support to end the war and the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. He noted the King’s meetings and communications with Arab and international leaders during his European tour and current visit to Brussels, which have contributed to a significant shift in international opinion and a growing global demand to end the aggression.
