Amman – In a significant call for global intervention, Jordanian women leaders from various sectors have urged the international community to take immediate action against the ongoing crimes against humanity and genocide in the Gaza Strip.

According to Jordan News Agency, organized by the Ministerial Committee for the Empowerment of Women, the Jordanian National Commission for Women’s Affairs, and the National Center for Human Rights, the event at the Royal Cultural Center marked the launch of a letter titled “Solidarity of the Women of Jordan with the Women of Palestine.” This letter, bearing the names of prominent Jordanian women, is set to be sent to influential bodies including the League of Arab States, the UN Women’s Fund, the UN Rapporteur for Human Rights, and the UN Secretary-General.

The message of solidarity calls for swift action by the international community to ensure accountability for crimes against humanity, and to end war crimes and genocide in Gaza. It emphasizes the need for the protection and safety of civilians, particularly women and children who are most affected by the conflict.

Wafa Bani Mustafa, Minister of Social Development and head of the Inter-Ministerial Committee for Women Empowerment (IMCWE), stated that Jordan stands with Palestine, echoing King Abdullah II’s commitment to support Palestinian brothers. She reinforced Jordan’s position as a steadfast ally of Palestine, with a focus on Jerusalem.

Maha Ali, Secretary-General of the Jordanian National Commission for Women, lauded the resilience of Palestinian women in their struggle, aligning this event with the international campaign against violence towards women and girls.

Samar Al Hajj Hassan, Chair of the National Centre for Human Rights, outlined the Centre’s role in documenting the violations committed by Israeli forces in Gaza. The Centre aims to present a human rights indictment detailing these violations in light of international human rights and humanitarian law, as well as United Nations resolutions.

Palestine’s Minister of Women’s Affairs, Amal Hamad, in a recorded message, expressed gratitude to the Jordanian people, government, and leadership for their unwavering support of Palestinian rights, highlighting the ongoing coordination since the start of the aggression.
