Amman – Minister of Agriculture Khaled Hneifat and Ghaleb Hijazi, Director-General of the Business Development Center (BDC), signed a cooperation agreement on Tuesday to implement the “Life The Green Links” project. Funded by the European Union, the project aims to promote sustainable agriculture and environmental sustainability in the region. At the signing ceremony, Hneifat highlighted the importance of this collaboration with BDC, focusing on projects that align with the aspirations of Jordan’s agricultural sector and aim to reduce unemployment by transforming consuming households into producers.

According to Jordan News Agency, the ministry has developed a training and guidance matrix and offers loans worth JD100 million, a significant portion of which are interest-free with a 95% success rate in some sectors. This initiative has led to the effective marketing of crops and products in seasonal fairs and permanent exhibitions in Amman and Irbid.

The agreement outlines several activities to achieve sustainable development, supporting Jordan’s agricultural and environmental sectors. It includes plans to treat gray water, which will contribute to sustainable water use, pollution reduction, organic fertilizer production, soil quality improvement, and increased agricultural production. The project also emphasizes the maintenance of solar energy systems, training Jordanian youth in maintaining and using solar energy networks. Additionally, it focuses on waste segregation management and targets entrepreneurs within the green economy to develop environmentally friendly projects and promote entrepreneurship in this field.
