The Palestinian Journalists Syndicate (PJS) said today that it has documented about 350 crimes and serious violations against Palestinian journalists and media committed by Israel during 50 days of aggression against the Palestinian people.

It said in a statement on the occasion of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, which coincides today, that the occupation forces have killed 70 journalists during its aggression against the Gaza Strip since October 7, equivalent to 120% of those killed in 23 years and is equal to more than three times the number of journalists killed in all parts of the world since the beginning of this year, while two journalists remain missing and 28 others are detained.

‘Marking the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People this year comes while the racist Israeli occupation is committing genocides against the Palestinian people, including journalists, which is a blatant violation of the Geneva Conventions, international humanitarian law,
the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the United Nations Declaration in 1993 adopting World Press Freedom Day, the decision of the European Court of Human Rights in 2010, Security Council Resolutions 1738 and 2222, and United Nations Resolution No. 163/68 regarding no impunity for perpetrators of crimes against journalists,” said the PJS.

“These facts demand urgent international position and action to stop these ongoing crimes, punish the occupation for its crimes, and provide effective protection for journalists,” it said, considering every international body that hesitates to implement this and play its role in it as a partner and complicit with the occupation in its crimes against journalists.
