Journalists’ Union in Syria on Wednesday condemned the crime of assassinating Palestinian journalist Shereen Abu Akleh by the Israeli occupation, demanding the international community to bring perpetrators to justice.

“The Israeli occupation entity went too far in its systematized practices against journalists, the latest of which is targeting journalist Shereen Abu Akleh directly with a bullet in the head, leading to her martyrdom in addition to injuring correspondent of al-Quds magazine Ali al-Samoudi,” the Union said in a statement.

The statement added “We are confident that our colleagues in the occupied territories will go ahead in commitment to their cause and defending it whatsoever that entity would perpetrate of crimes.”

It stressed support for the measures that will be taken by the Palestinian Journalists’ Syndicate to punish the perpetrators.
