Kirkuk, The work of the seventh coordination conference of the heads of sub-committees in the governorates to prevent extremism kicked off in the city of Kirkuk, as part of the efforts of the National Committee to follow up on the implementation of the strategy to combat violent extremism that leads to terrorism, in the presence of the Governor of Kirkuk, Rakan Saeed Al-Jubouri, and the head of the National Committee for implementing the Strategy for Combating Violent Extremism that Leads to Terrorism, Ali Abdullah Al-Budairi.
During the opening speech, the governor of Kirkuk stressed that it is a matter of pleasure and joy that Kirkuk hosts this important national meeting, stressing that the province faced great challenges in terrorism and the displacement crisis, and made great efforts for reconstruction, the return of the displaced, and the consolidation of cohesion and unity among all its components, appreciating the role and effort of the security forces, the heroine and the people of Kirkuk with all their components.
He said that Kirkuk was distinguished by holding unified religious ceremonies, and a committee was formed under our supervision to consolidate and unify joint action.
For his part, the head of the National Committee for the Implementation of the Strategy for Combating Violent Extremism Leading to Terrorism, Ali Abdullah Al-Badiri, confirmed that the twelfth of this month was the International Day for Preventing Violent Extremism Leading to Terrorism, which was adopted by the United Nations as part of Iraq’s proposal.
He indicated that The conference will discuss the current year’s action plan and the 2024 plan./End
