Riyadh, Advisor at the Royal Court and Supervisor General of King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) Dr Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Rabeeah met today at KSrelief headquarters in Riyadh with Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Jassim Muhammad Al-Budaiwi.

Al Rabeeah congratulated Al-Budaiwi on assuming his post as GCC Secretary General and wished him further success in his career.

Al Rabeeah briefed the GCC Secretary General on the humanitarian aid and relief projects and programmes provided by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia through KSrelief to many needy and affected countries. This humanitarian aid and relief has reached 90 countries through the implementation of 2,286 projects at a value of more than $6 billion; it was carried out in cooperation with 175 local, regional and international partners that included various humanitarian aid and relief sectors.

The GCC Secretary General commended the pioneering efforts exerted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia under the directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, in providing all aspects of humanitarian aid and relief to 90 countries worldwide. The humanitarian aid and relief is a reflection of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s approach, which is to help needy people around the world by providing assistance to beneficiaries through an accurate monitoring mechanism and advanced and rapid transportation methods, directly or in partnerships with United Nations organisations and international and local non-profit organisations in the beneficiary countries, and leading organisations in humanitarian work.

At the meeting, the two officials discussed issues of common concern, including strengthening cooperation between KSrelief and the GCC General Secretariat through the GCC Relief and Humanitarian Aid Coordination Office (GAFC) to Yemen.
