ABU DHABI: Muhammad Al Hawaij, Minister of Economy and Trade of Libya, mentioned that Libya is in discussions with the World Trade Organisation (WTO) to progress from observer status to full membership to benefit the Libyan economy.

Al Hawaij, speaking to the Emirates News Agency (WAM) during the 13th WTO Ministerial Conference in Abu Dhabi, highlighted the need for various stages and steps, including the formation of technical committees to assess the benefits of joining the WTO for Libya’s economy.

He emphasised the significance of the conference in exploring future trade prospects globally, praising the UAE’s efforts in organising the event to support WTO development amidst the evolving digital economy. Al Hawaij stressed the timeliness of the 13th Ministerial Conference to achieve concrete outcomes amidst current global developments.
