Maait: Leading world finance institutions to meet Nov. 9 in Egypt on Finance Day

Finance Minister Mohamed Maait reviewed on Wednesday 26/10/2022 preparations for the Finance Day that will be organized by the Finance Ministry on November 9 during the activities of the UN climate conference, COP27, in Sharm El-Sheikh.

The Finance Day will gather leading international financial institutions and banks, the Finance Ministry said in a statement.

Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Kristalina Georgieva, UN Special Envoy on Climate Action and Finance Mark Carney, Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) President Jin Liqun, Under-Secretary-General and Executive Secretary of Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia Rola Dashti, and President of the New Development Bank (NDB) Marcos Troyjo will take part in the event.

Participants are set to discuss introducing innovative and concessional financing tools and systems to reduce the cost of transition to a green economy in a way that confronts the climate change ramifications, especially in developing and African countries, Maait noted.

He said he is looking forward to holding multilateral partnerships with the private sector to promote eco-investing.

The minister asserted the importance of cooperation with international financial institutions to work to incorporate the environmental and climate dimension into the economic policies of various countries.
