RAMALLAH: Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Riyad al-Malki received a telephone call from New Zealand’s Foreign Minister Winston Peter, during which they discussed the catastrophic situation facing the Gaza Strip in light of the ongoing devastating Israeli aggression and the resulting appalling scourges.

During the call, Malki discussed the outcome of the ruling of the International Court of Justice, the responsibility of the Israeli occupation authorities for the genocide committed in Gaza and the responsibility of states for this ongoing Israeli crime.

The two ministers stressed the need for the international community to assume responsibility in the face of this humanitarian catastrophe, underscoring New Zealand’s role in putting an end to this suffering, the killing and destruction.

For his part, New Zealand’s Foreign Minister reiterated his country’s rejection of the Israeli aggression waged on Gaza.

He called for reaching a ceasefire, facilitating the entry of humanitarian aid to all areas
in Gaza and preventing the forced displacement of its population.

He further stressed support for a political solution based on a two-state solution.
