Minister of International Cooperation Rania Mashat underlined that the 2023-2027 regional program between Egypt and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) falls within the framework of strategic cooperation between Egypt and the UN for achieving sustainable development.

She noted that the program supports the state’s development efforts and promotes its drive towards the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.

She lauded the role played by the UN and its affiliated agencies to bolster the government’s priorities in achieving sustainable development within the framework of their partnership.

Mashat made the remarks on Monday during a meeting with UN Population Fund (UNFPA) Representative in Egypt Frederika Meijer.

The meeting is part of periodical meetings with multilateral and unilateral development partners in order to enhance relations and achieve Egypt Vision 2030.

Mashat underlined the depth of the Egypt-UN relations in supporting national efforts to achieve sustainable development.

She noted that the new regional program with the UNFPA goes in line with the achievements realized by the Egyptian government over the past eight years, especially with regard to empowering women and youths.

Mashat also reviewed with the UN official preparations for the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP27).

She stressed Egypt’s keenness on cooperation with all parties to promote climate action as well as efforts for transition to green economy.
