Finance Minister Mohamed Maait said on Tuesday 13/12/2022 Egypt, under President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, managed to end intractable and accumulated crises, topped by the energy crisis.

Speaking during a symposium at Cairo University, Maait pointed to three successive crises that affected Egypt’s economy, which are the coronavirus ramifications; the war in Ukraine; and climate change.

Maait noted that Egypt’s economy became diverse and inclusive in a way that it can absorb internal and external shocks with a great deal of flexibility, reviewing indicators of the fiscal year of 2021/2022, including reducing the budget deficit and increasing public investments.

The minister pointed out that meeting the development needs of the citizens and achieving economic goals are presidential priorities.

In the coming period, the state will continue to decrease the budget deficit and achieve a primary surplus, the minister added.
