Mikdad discusses with UNFPA director prospects of cooperation between Syria and the Fund

Foreign and Expatriates Minister, Faysal Mikdad discussed on Monday with Director of the Regional Office of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Luay Shabaneh prospects and domains of cooperation between the Syrian government and the Fund.

Mikdad hailed the standing cooperation between the Government of Syrian Arab Republic and UNFPA, and the efforts extorted by the Fund to deal with national priorities and needs through continuous coordination and cooperation with the authorities concerned.

The Minister talked about the dangerous repercussions of unilateral coercive measures imposed on Syria by the US, European Union countries and other sides which negatively affect the lives and economic conditions of the Syrian people.

For his part, Shabaneh expressed his appreciation for the ongoing cooperation between the Syrian government and the Fund, and his gratitude for the facilities and support that the Fund receives from the Syrian government.

He stressed that meeting the national needs is a priority for the fund’s management.
