Damascus- Foreign and Expatriates Minister Fayssal Mikdad on Tuesday discussed with Secretary General of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) Jagan Chapagain bolstering relations between Syria and IFRC within the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding clarifying the legal status of IFRC in Syria.
Mikdad affirmed the need of developing those relations in various fields , pointing out to the Syrian state’s readiness to develop cooperation with IFRC and others organizations concerned for follow-up humanitarian needs of the Syrian people in a way that helps to mitigating the impacts of armed terrorist organizations’ crimes supported by regional and international powers and the unilateral coercive economic measures imposed by the United States and Western countries on Syria, which primarily target the Syrian people.
For his part, Chapagain pointed out to the IFRC ‘s efforts in the humanitarian field , underlining his intention to set in place mechanisms of transition from humanitarian relief to improving citizens’ livelihoods, noting the efforts made by the Syrians to return to their normal lives and build their future.
