The Minister of Health visited today the injured healthcare worker Saly al-Bitar, who was shot in the chest and seriously injured yesterday by Israeli forces’ fire during a military incursion into Jenin city, in the northern occupied West Bank, said the ministry of health in a statement. The ministry said the health of 37-year-old al-Bitar, who works as a laboratory technician in the nearby town of Yabad town, remains critical but in stable condition. Bitar was shot in the chest with live ammunition; the bullet pierced her upper right abdomen, rupturing the liver and causing major bleeding and excessive damage to the right kidney. The ministry added that al-Bitar was admitted urgently to surgery and after hours of medical intervention the bleeding was controlled and the right kidney was removed. The ministry said that Israeli forces continue to commit crimes against the Palestinian people, including the health workers.
