Damascus, SANA- Minister of Information, Dr. Boutros Al-Hallaq discussed Tuesday with UNFPA Representative, Himyar Abdulmoghni, and Assistant Representative of the Fund, Omar Ballan, areas of cooperation and implementation of joint activities related to youth issues, encouraging culture of volunteering, and promoting microenterprise.
The meeting presented stages of implementing joint plans related to development issues, dealing with social media, along with emphasizing data journalism to produce educational materials that contribute to spreading awareness among the public about development issues.
Minister Al-Hallaq attached great importance to research studies and media training with the aim of producing reports of positive effect.
The representative of the Fund, Abdel-Moghni, stated that the partnership with the Ministry is strategic, especially for the implementation of the Nairobi Summit Commitments on development and population.
Abdel-Moghni pointed to significant role of media in spreading awareness, especially in light of the circumstances and the terrorist war that Syria has been subjected to.
