Amman: The Ministry of Water and Irrigation has concluded a community support initiative aimed at areas hosting refugees, focused on enhancing water infrastructure in four villages.
The project is executed in collaboration with the German International Cooperation Agency (GIZ) on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), and in partnership with the Jordanian Hashemite Fund for Human Development (JOHUD).
The targeted villages included one in Irbid, one in Balqa, and two in Ma’an. The primary objectives were to enhance water supply efficiency, upgrade water networks and quality, and promote responsible water usage while minimizing wastage through citizen awareness and behavioral guidance programs, according to a Ministry statement issued Wednesday.
A dialogue meeting was organized to bring together members and representatives from various local groups in the project areas. The meeting aimed to showcase the project’s achievements and recognize the collaborative effo
rts of institutions, funding bodies, and the local community, all of which contributed to the project’s success and the desired improvements in services for the residents of the targeted areas.
Representatives from both local and refugee-hosting communities expressed their appreciation for the project’s accomplishments. They particularly emphasized the significance of community involvement as a key partner in the implementation process within the water sector.
