Baghdad, The Ministry of Interior announced today, Thursday, the arrest of 128 persons accused of drug trafficking and abuse.

The ministry said in a statement that, “Under the supervision of the Minister of Interior, Abd al-Amir al-Shammari, 128 people involved in drug crime were arrested and their networks were dismantled, one day after the launch of the second deterrence operation , “Revenge of the Martyr Diaa Hamid Haider,” which targets drug dealers, promoters, and transporters.”

It indicated that “the specialized work teams in the General Directorate for Narcotic Affairs have undertaken qualitative duties at an accelerated pace based on accurate information and in accordance with judicial orders throughout Iraq with professional work,” stressing that “nothing will discourage them from performing their duty.”

The ministry pledged “to the Iraqi people more qualitative operations during the next few hours and days.”
