FUJAIRAH: The 8th of January marks the 17th anniversary of the accession of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi to the position of Crown Prince of the emirate of Fujairah.
On 8th January 2007, H.H. Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Fujairah, issued a decree appointing Sheikh Mohammed as Crown Prince of the emirate of Fujairah.
Since his accession, the emirate of Fujairah has witnessed many leading achievements and successes, following the path and vision of H.H. Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Fujairah. Fujairah has since seen continuous development and achieved qualitative leaps at all levels in the government, economic, cultural, educational, sports, and other fields.
Leading Global Destination

e goals of the “Fujairah Vision 2030′ to become a leading global destination. He also established the Fujairah Adventure Park to promote the concept of adventure tourism and sports, making the emirate a major hub for this sector.
Prominent Presence in Culture and Arts Sector
The government of Fujairah attaches great importance to the culture and arts sector, as the Crown Prince sponsors many cultural projects and initiatives that have contributed to enhancing the emirate’s presence in the field of cultural and community work at the regional and international levels.
Since 2007, the emirate of Fujairah has been experiencing continuous cultural revival, as Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad Al Sharqi supports a number of cultural, theatrical, artistic, and community activities, including the theatre, performing arts, plastic, and fine arts sectors. He has launched many cultural projects and initiatives that aim to share human values and spread knowledge, most notably the “Philosophy House” project, the ‘Al Bader Init
iative’, and his sponsorship of the ‘Fujairah International Competition for the Art of Arabic Calligraphy’, organised by the Fujairah Fine Arts Academy.
Sports Sector
The Crown Prince of Fujairah has given athletes and sports institutions great attention and support, stressing the benefits of sports in society and its leading role in supporting comprehensive development in the UAE.
In this context, Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad is the President of the Fujairah Martial Arts Club and sponsors a number of the most important international sports championships and competitions across various sports that are organised and hosted by Fujairah.
Education and Empowerment of Human Resources
On the educational level, the Crown Prince of Fujairah has strengthened the role of reading and knowledge in developing individuals’ skills, providing them with the expertise and knowledge that elevate their human and social awareness, and the role of public education institutions in supporting the educational sector in the UAE.

The Fujairah International Conference on Bee Research was launched as the first event of its kind in the region and the world under his patronage, organised by the Fujairah Environment Authority and supported by the Fujairah Research Centre. He also pays special attention to farmers and those working in environment-related professions, issuing directives to stren
gthen and support their work.
Economy and Business
With the directives of H.H. Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Fujairah, the government of Fujairah is keen to consolidate the position of Fujairah as an important economic hub for global companies, and a high-ranking destination in the field of oil and gas services sector at the global level, cementing the emirate’s strategic role in supporting global energy markets.
The Crown Prince of Fujairah is also keen to follow up on the goals and outputs of the Energy Markets Forum, which Fujairah hosts annually.
Achievements
In 2023, the International Theatre Institute and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) awarded Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed the Gold Medal in recognition of his support for the theatre sector and the global theatrical movement. He was also awarded the “Humanitarian Personality of the Year 2023” award by the International Taekwondo Federation for his contribution to h
umanitarian work and supporting refugees around the world who practice this sport.
The Crown Prince of Fujairah also won the “Sports Personality of the Year” award in 2017, the “Foundation Award for Leadership in the Fields of Economic Development” award in 2012 from the Crans Montana Forum, and has received the eighth-degree black belt in Taekwondo from the International Taekwondo Federation in 2018.

AMMAN: King Abdullah II of Jordan warned today against the catastrophic repercussions of the ongoing Israeli aggression on Gaza, emphasizing the urgent need to address the tragic humanitarian crisis in the region.
In a meeting with U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Sunday, King Abdullah II reiterated Jordan’s strong rejection of the forced displacement of Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza, considering it a clear violation of international law. He underscored the necessity of enabling the people of Gaza to return to their homes.
The Jordanian monarch affirmed the significance of the United States’ role in pressuring for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, protecting civilians, and ensuring the sufficient and sustainable delivery of humanitarian, medical, and relief aid to the region.
Emphasizing that the region won’t witness stability without a just solution to the Palestinian issue, achieving fair and comprehensive peace based on a two-state solution, King Abdullah II affirmed the Kingdom’s reject
ion of attempts to separate Gaza and the West Bank.
King Abdullah II condemned the acts of violence by colonial settler militias against Palestinians and the repeated violations against Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, calling for addressing these issues promptly to prevent further escalation in the region.
