Baghdad, A member of the Parliamentary Education Committee, Jawad Al-Ghazali, confirmed that the budget of the Ministry of Education is not commensurate with its importance, and less important parties are given large budgets more than education.
He told the National Iraqi News Agency (NINA) that “the allocations approved by the Ministry of Education are very few, and there is a great shortage of buildings, supplies and educational cadres, which are basic elements for education.”
Al-Ghazali added: So far, the textbooks have not been fully distributed.
He explained that the ministry’s budget in the previous government was 1.7% of the total budget, while in the Sultanate of Oman it was 11% and Jordan 11.9%.
He called on the government to help the ministry, which is making an exceptional effort to build a people with a developed culture.
Regarding the Chinese contract, Al-Ghazali continued: We did not need it, and we have capabilities and wealth that do not need such contracts. Until this moment, the project is lagging, and the schools are very few and not at the required level.
