ABU DHABI: Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, emphasised the importance of the sustainable and systematic development of young national competencies as the fundamental pillar in the journey of comprehensive development and as the most important national resource prioritised by the UAE’s leadership.

He made this statement while touring the 15th edition of the EmiratesSkills National Competition, held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak (the Mother of the Nation), Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union (GWU), President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation (FDF).

The event is organised by the Abu Dhabi Centre for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (ACTVET) at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC).

During the visit, Sheikh Nahyan inspected various platforms at the event, where he learnt about the experiences of Emirati youth in automotive maintenance
skills, healthcare and social care, computer-assisted sculpture, mobile robotics, and others.

“Our leadership is keen to invest in national competencies as the foundation for continuing the journey of success and excellence and preserving major achievements. Today, we take pride in the presence of a new generation equipped with the necessary skills and capable of confidently and energetically writing a new chapter of the UAE’s success story,” Sheikh Nahyan said.

Mubarak Saeed Al Shamsi, Director-General of ACTVET, said the EmiratesSkills National Competition has gained increasing momentum year after year, enhancing its presence as a platform for honing and developing national competencies and providing them with the opportunity to actively contribute to the country’s comprehensive economic development.

The competition aims to increase awareness among Emirati youth about careers based on technical and vocational education and prepare a national workforce to serve the UAE’s economic and technological growth.
It attracts talented Emiratis in technical and vocational fields to compete according to international standards and subsequently represent the UAE in global skills competitions.
