The National Authority for Tunnels (NAT) said, on Tuesday 6/9/2022, that the light electric train (LRT) has been operating regularly since its inauguration in July, denying reports circulated on social media that Egypt is assessing to halt LRT service due to low passenger turnout.

In a press statement, NAT said such reports are groundless and bare out truth, noting that LRT has been operating regularly since its operation on July 3 this year.

LRT is extending from Adly Mansour metro station till the New Administrative Capital (NAC), serving the residents of East Cairo and all passengers heading for the NAC.

NAT urged citizens not to be dragged behind such rumors and fake news, which aim at stirring public opinion and downsizing the value of achievements and mega projects carried out by the state.
