NCC chief: Press and media institutions partners in enhancing development

Chief Executive Officer of the National Communication Centre (NCC), Yousif Mohammed Al-Binkhalil, has asserted that the Bahraini press is distinguished by its professionalism and long traditions, and operates freely and independently, as per the existing constitutional and legal frameworks, which confirms the pivotal role of the press in carrying out its mission with responsibility and competence.

He indicated that the remarkable progress witnessed by the press sector in the kingdom is the fruitful outcome of the unlimited support of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and keenness of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

In a statement marking the Bahrain Press Day, which is celebrated every May 7, NCC Chief extended congratulations to the editors-in-chief of newspapers, journalist, columnists and affiliates of the Bahraini press on the occasion.

He affirmed that the Bahraini press has set the example in responsible journalism over its 80-year history, praising Bahrain’s keenness to put in place the necessary rights, freedoms and legal guarantors for practising journalism, in addition to ensuring the freedom of expression for journalists and media personnel in order to undertake their tasks with security and independence.

He affirmed that the press and media institutions are effective partners in Bahrain’s comprehensive development process, and contributed significantly to promoting social awareness and delivering their national message with dedication, highlighting their ongoing cooperation with NCC to highlight the national civilisational achievements.

He added that the Bahraini press continues playing its role with responsibility in order to keep pace with international media developments, taking advantage of the existing opportunities despite challenges.
