NCSC dealt with 453 cyber incidents during Q3 2023


Amman: National Cyber Security Center (NCSC) dealt with 453 cyber incidents during the third quarter of 2023, targeting the government’s secure network, a number of ministries and public and vital institutions.

According to the Kingdom’s cybersecurity situation report, recently published by NCSC on its website, Cyber Incident Response Team carried out 20 incident responses, during which digital investigation teams conducted 22 digital analysis operations for the associated evidence.

Accordingly, security incidents were distributed per their degree of severity, which showed that 26% of the total cases were risky, while 1% and 8% others revealed high and low risk, respectively, and a majority of 65% had moderate risk, the report said.

The report also tracked the key cyber breaches that were 8% ransomware, 8% hacking attempts, 7% non-compliance with policies, 7% phishing, and 70% other malicious software.

Referring to security tests conducted for servers in the government data center and a number of public i
nstitutions, the report noted a total of 82,733 security-related vulnerabilities were detected, while vulnerabilities on government websites hit 708 for 89 websites for 63 institutions.
