Newspapers Review: Israeli conditions, Biden and normalization, and shooting a woman focus of dailies

The conditions the Israeli government set on the Palestinian Authority (PA) to receive facilities, remarks by US President Joe Biden regarding Saudi normalization of relations with Israel, and the Israeli shooting and wounding of a Palestinian woman in Jerusalem were highlighted on the front page of the three Palestinian Arabic dailies published today. Al-Ayyam daily said in its main front-page story that Israel has made a list of conditions the PA must do in return for receiving facilitations, which it said the conditions would make the PA fully subordinate to the occupation. Al-Quds daily said Biden confirmed that normalization of relations between Saudi Arabia and Israel has a long way to go. The third daily, al-Hayat al-Jadida, said a Palestinian woman was shot and injured by an Israeli guard at a light rail station in Jerusalem after alleging she attempted to stab him. The three dailies reported on these stories and other Israeli measures in the occupied territories, talking about incursions and destruction of property and burning of trees by settlers, as reported in al-Ayyam, as well as plans to expand most settlements in occupied East Jerusalem by adding 7500 units to them, as reported in al-Quds, Al-Hayat al-Jadida said the occupation authorities issued orders that will suffocate the Bedouin communities in northern Jericho. It also said, quoting member of Fatah Central Committee and the PLO’s Executive Committee, Azzam al-Ahmad, saying that President Mahmoud Abbas has invited all heads of the Palestinian political factions for a meeting in Cairo at the end of this month. The paper also said Israel is going to open two bypass roads in the south and north of the West Bank that serve its settlers and would speed up the annexation of Area C of the West Bank under full Israeli control, as reported in al-Ayyam, which also said that Israel released a settler who joined in hate attacks in the West Bank. Al-Quds quoted the Chinese ambassador to Palestine calling in an interview for an end to division among the Palestinians.
