RAMALLAH: The ongoing Israeli massacres in the Gaza Strip and incursions, killings and destruction in the West Bank were highlighted on the front page of the three Palestinian Arabic dailies published today.

‘Gaza a cemetery for the thousands as the catastrophe continues,’ said the main front-page story headline in al-Quds daily, while the headline of the other main front-page story said: ‘Five killed, vandalism of property: Destruction in the West Bank alongside destruction in the Gaza Strip.’

The main front-page story headline in al-Ayyam daily said: ‘250 martyrs and the occupation continues its massacres in the Gaza Strip; a medic was unable to recover his children and family from under the rubble.’

It said five were killed in an Israeli army incursion into Nur Shams refugee camp through the use of drones and destruction of the infrastructure.

The third daily, al-Hayat al-Jadida, said in large black font on its front page: ‘When destruction talks,’ printed over a picture on half of the front page of th
e destruction the Israeli bombings left in the Gaza Strip.

Lower on the page it said in another headline: ‘Colonists burn three sheds west of Jericho, escalate their terrorism in the Jordan Valley: Five martyrs and destruction in a wide-scale aggression on Nur Shams refugee camp, and a martyr in Jenin who succumbed to his wounds.’

Al-Hayat al-Jadida also quoted in another front-page story the Palestinian presidency saying that statements by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu regarding not allowing the creation of a Palestinian state go along with the campaign by shady Western media against the legitimacy of the Palestine Liberation Organization.

It also said that the Israel Prison Services (IPS) isolated the prisoner and leader Marwan Barghouti and that woman prisoners from Gaza are being mistreated in revenge acts.

Al-Ayyam said the IPS refused to reveal the location of Barghouti.

Al-Ayyam also quoted Egyptian sources saying Hamas and Israel are open to a ceasefire and release of prisoners.

It s
aid in a story published on Middle East Eye that Israeli soldiers tied a 30-year-old man in Gaza and attached explosives to his body before forcing him to walk into a tunnel they thought Palestinian fighters were using. It said the man was used as a human shield.

Al-Quds said President Mahmoud Abbas gave his condolences for the death of the Emir of Kuwait.

It said the French foreign minister visiting the West Bank condemned Israeli settlers’ violence, which ‘undermines’ the political solution.

It said the Israeli forces held and interrogated the elderly Muslim leader and former Mufti, Ikrima Sabri, for three hours at a West Jerusalem police station over his Friday sermon at Al-Aqsa Mosque that touched on the prisoners, Al-Aqsa, and the prohibition of killing women and children.
