Amman: The number of visitors to the Kingdom has jumped during January and February of 2023 to reach 940,000 visitors, an increase of 135.5 percent compared to the figure reported in the same period in 2022.

A monthly report issued Sunday by the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities showed a 119.5-percent increase in the numbers of overnight tourists in January and February of 2023, amounting to 765,352 tourists, compared to 348,692 tourists in January and February of 2022.

To put the numbers in perspective, the number of tourists in January and February 2019, the tourism sector’s best-performing year, stood at 742,920 visitors, going up to 842,647 visitors in 2020, while in 2021 the number of tourists amounted to about 122,279.

On a monthly level, the number of visitors in February 2023 amounted to 435,927, an increase of 132.5 percent compared to 187,460 visitors during the same month of 2022.

The number of overnight tourists increased in February by 118.4 percent to reach 356,326 tourists compared to 163,139 tourists during the same month in 2022.
