Manama, Nasser Vocational Training Centre (NVTC) and ThinkSmart Development and Training Group launched today the “Smart Coders” initiative during a press conference held at the centre’s premises.
NVTC Chief Executive, Dr. Abdullah Nasser Al Noaimi, affirmed that the centre is operating in accordance with the vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. He also commended close follow-up of Representative of His Majesty the King for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs, NVTC Chairman, His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa to turn Bahrain into a pioneering academic hub that attracts students and equip them with the needed skills.
Dr. Al Noaimi added that the “Smart Coders” initiative stems from Bahrain Vision 2030 that aims to turn the kingdom in a hub to provide competencies for the local, regional and international labour market by training them on the programming languages. He noted that the youth-oriented initiative that targets both genders aims to train 10,000 Bahrainis over five years in coding.
ThinkSmart Chief Executive, Ahmed Atiyatallah Al Hejiri, said the programme aims to provide international coders due to the rising demand in this respect. He added that the initiative enables the Bahraini youth to acquire the technical and administrative skills to obtain jobs that suit their qualifications. He noted that the classrooms will be ready for the training and that there will be a graduation project for each group and a competition to be held at the end of the year. He also indicated that information about the students will be provided to the companies to pave the way for suitable job opportunities for the graduates.
