OIC, WHO Enhance Cooperation in Health Sector

The Assistant Secretary General for Humanitarian, Cultural, and Social Affairs and Special Envoy of the Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) for Afghanistan, Ambassador Tarig Ali Bakheet, has met in Geneva with the Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO), Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.

The meeting discussed efforts to providing resources for the health sector in Afghanistan and the Sahel region, including providing COVID-19 vaccines.

The two parties agreed to conclude a new memorandum of understanding and a plan of action to enhance their bilateral cooperation in the field of health and technical assistance, in addition to providing medical supplies, training and capacity building for the benefit of OIC member states.
