Baghdad, The independent Kurdish politician, Mahmoud Othman, revealed the Kurds’ position on amending the election law and the possibility of approving it.
Othman said in a statement to the National Iraqi News Agency / NINA /: “The Kurds have no objection to amending the election law from multiple constituencies to one constituency, given that they have tried the two laws previously and there has been no significant change in their parliamentary seats.”
He explained: “The amendment of the election law was not passed for several reasons, including the street’s rejection of it, the Sadrist movement’s rejection, and also the rejection of independent and emerging parties.”
He stressed that a dialogue must be held between the political forces, especially with the Sadrist movement, in order to agree on the formula for amending the law, otherwise the Sadrist movement will move and political problems and matters will arise, and Iraq is concerned about it.
