At least 11 people were killed and several others injured on Friday in a stampede during a free food distribution campaign in Karachi, southern Pakistan.

The incident occurred while people were gathering at a dyeing factory in the city’s industrial area to collect food rations as part of charity campaigns that Karachi residents, according to Pakistan’s “Geo News” channel.

Medics and police officials told Geo News that among the dead in the incident were eight women and three children.

The latest tragedy comes days after 4 older people were killed in a similar stampede in the Pakistani province of Punjab last week.
