Chairman of the Lower House Foreign Affairs Committee, MP Khaldoun Haina, said developments in the Palestinian territories reflect Israeli government’s hardline practices and its violations of Jerusalem’s sanctities.During a meeting with Vatican Ambassador to Jordan, Archbishop Giovanni Pietro Dal Toso, Haina noted His Majesty King Abdullah II’s speech at the United Nations General Assembly recently emphasized any delay in achieving comprehensive and just peace and the two-state solution would fuel violence and conflict.Haina added that 2023 is the most violent and bloody year for the Palestinians. The MP noted Jordan is a “pivotal” country in the region, and its role is recognized in pursuing security and stability, noting that His Majesty King embodies the voice of wisdom, moderation and tolerance, and always calls for dialogue to prevail in resolving the region’s various crises.Regarding developments in the Gaza Strip, he stressed extremist Israeli government is still desecrating Jerusalem’s Islamic and
Christian sanctities, bulldozing Palestinian cities and camps, and arresting civilians, children and women.Jordan has so far received multiple refugee waves, the last was Syrian refugees, which put pressure on its resources and infrastructure, he noted, calling on the international community to fulfill its responsibilities towards Jordan to carry out its responsibilities in this regard..For his part, Dal Toso said Jordan constitutes “a model of religious coexistence,” valuing the King’s role in promoting this vision. The envoy also hailed Jordan’s efforts towards Syrian refugees, despite its limited resources and difficult economic situation, indicating that he will work with the Vatican to increase support provided to the Kingdom. On the Vatican’s diplomacy he noted it believes in dialogue to resolve all the region’s issues, foremost is Palestinian-Israeli conflict, adding that “Jordan is one of the most peaceful countries in the region, which serves the entire world’s interests.”
