A Palestinian prisoner and a father of three children; one of them was born in 2014 by artificial insemination using a sperm the prisoner smuggled from his prison cell, entered today the last year of his 21-year-sentence in Israeli jails.

Director of the Palestine Prisoner’s Society (PPS) Office in Jenin, Muntaser Samour, said prisoner Abdel-Fattah Kamel Shalabi, 50, entered today his last year in prison after spending over two decades in there for resisting the occupation.

Shalabi, from the town of Silat al-Harthiyeh, west of the northern West Bank city of Jenin, was detained in 2003 and sentenced for 21 years for resisting the Israeli occupation.

Since Palestinian political prisoners are not allowed conjugal visits with their wives, they resort to smuggling sperms to continue their bloodlines, especially if their husbands are serving long prison terms.
