Palestinians hold rally in support of freedom fighters incarcerated in Israel, demand release of withheld bodies

NABLUS, Wednesday, In an activity held today in the northern West Bank city of Nablus, participants expressed support for isolated and sick freedom fighters incarcerated in Israel, demanded the release of the bodies of Palestinians killed by Israeli force and withheld by the occupation authorities for years, and rejected Israel’s repression and abuse of all imprisoned freedom fighters.

Participants in the protest called for by the National Committee for Supporting Prisoners in the Nablus Governorate carried the Palestinian flag and banners opposing the policies of the occupation authorities against the prisoners, as well as pictures of prisoners who died in prison and whose bodies are withheld by the occupation authorities, and chanted slogans rejecting the systematic oppression and brutal treatment of the prisoners in general.

They called on the international community to act and put a stop to Israeli measures against the prisoners.

Coordinator of the National Committee for the Support of Prisoners, Muzaffar Thouqan, said that the prisoners live a difficult life and are subjected to abuse and oppression on a daily basis.

He called on international bodies and various human rights organizations to break their silence and pressure the occupation government to stop its repressive violations against prisoners, especially the sick, and to provide them with proper care in accordance with international law.

He also called on the International Red Cross, the United Nations Security Council and General Assembly, and the Human Rights Council to be up to their responsibilities and pressure the Israeli government to release the withheld bodies of the killed Palestinians.
