Participating in “Women in Government” Forum in UAE, Safaf spotlights role of women

During the preparatory day for the World Government Summit 2022 held in United Arab Emirates(UAE), “Women in Government” forum highlighted the role of Arab women in comprehensive development, and underlined the importance of developing legislative frameworks to empower women and expand their participation in leadership positions.

During a dialogue session entitled “Philosophy of Governmental Leadership… Dialogue with Arab Women Ministers” Dr. Salam Safaf, Minister of Administrative Development, was quoted by Emirates News Agency(WAM) as affirming the awareness of the important role of Syrian women at the national level.

Safaf noted that despite the Syrian woman have obtained the right of participating in elections since 1949, yet, the stereotyped image of women still exists in many fields.

Minister Safaf reviewed her personal experience in this regard, indicating that her life has been full of challenges, but she has been able to overcome them thanks to the increasing awareness of the important role of women.

In turn, Dr. Maitha bint Salem Al Shamsi, Minister of State at the Emirati Government, hailed the UAE’s experience in empowering women by developing a road map for women within an integrated strategy and system to activate women’s participation in all state sectors, which has completely succeeded in the country.
