Patriarch Theophilos III calls on Palestinian Christians to go to Church of Holy Sepulcher to participate in Holy Saturday celebrations

The Greek Orthodox Patriarch of Jerusalem Theophilos III called on the Palestinian Christians to go to the Church of the Holy Sepulcher in the occupied city of Jerusalem and participate in the celebration and the activities of the Holy Light on Saturday. ‘This holiday is Jerusalem’s holiday and people flock to the Church of the Holy Sepulcher from everywhere because our presence in Jerusalem is important to preserve its sanctities and Christians,’ said Theophilos III. Israeli police have recently imposed obstacles and restrictions on occupied Jerusalem with the approaching of Holy Saturday and the Easter holiday, which falls on the coming Sunday. ‘Holy Light Saturday has become a marker of seasonal suffering for Christians as a result of physical restrictions imposed by the Israeli authorities to prevent them from reaching the Church of the Holy Sepulcher to exercise their God-given right to worship,’ said the Middle East Monitor.
