Damascus, SANA- Speaker of the People’s Assembly Hamouda Sabbagh welcomed the Speakers of parliaments and heads of parliamentary delegations who attended the 34th Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union conference in Baghdad on Saturday.

During a session of the People’s Assembly , President of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union and Speaker of the Iraqi Council of Representatives, Muhammad al-Halbousi, said: “we are in beloved Damascus to confirm support for Syria to overcome obstacles.”.

“Syria is indispensable to its Arab environment, to which we hope it will return,” al-Halbousi said.

While President of the Palestinian National Council, Rawhi Fattouh affirmed that this visit embodies the return of the Arab nation to Syria, which is the beating heart of Arabism.

In turn, Speaker of the Jordanian parliament, Ahmad Safadi, said: “We are happy to come to Syria, and I convey the greetings of the Jordanian people to the great Syrian people, as Syria is for all Arabs.”

Egypt’s parliament speaker Hanafi Jabali asserted that “there are historic ties between Egypt and Syria. We are here in our country and among our people. This visit is to express our love and support for the Syrian people.”.

In turn, the representative of the Shura Council in the Sultanate of Oman, announced that his visit to Damascus is to express support for the brotherly people of Syria and we hope that Damascus will restore its position among the Arab states.

Member of Lebanese Parliament, Representative Ayoub Hamid referred to the importance of this visit is confirm the solidarity of all Arab with Syria, affirming that the relations between Lebanon and Syria are deeply- rooted

The delegation, headed by the President of the Arab Parliamentary Union, Mr. Muhammad Al-Halbousi, comprised several speakers of parliaments and heads of delegations from the United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Palestine, Libya and Egypt, in addition to heads of Oman Sultanate and Lebanon and the Arab Inter-parliamentary Union Secretary-General and other whom have come to Damascus in an initiative to confirm their support for Syria and its people.
