Philippine Embassy in Damascus celebrates 75th anniversary for establishing diplomatic relations with Syria

The Philippine Embassy in Damascus held on Saturday reception ceremony on the occasion of the 75th anniversary for establishing diplomatic relations with Syria at Four Seasons Hotel in Damascus.

 

Delivering a speech, Deputy Foreign and Expatriates Minister Bashar al-Jaafari affirmed the deep-rooted friendly relations binding the two countries, as Syria was among the first five countries that recognized the independence of the Philippine in 1946, which reflects its keenness and principled position in supporting the independence, freedom and sovereignty of all countries.

 

 

 

He added that the Philippine Embassy kept its door open in Damascus during the terrorist war on Syria which shows the depth of friendship between the two countries and their peoples.

 

Al-Jaafari voiced hope that the cooperation between the two countries will culminate in the promotion of trade and economic exchange, particularly that the two countries have signed 14 bilateral cooperation agreements in various fields.

 

For her part, Chargé de Affairs of the embassy in Damascus, Vida Soraya Verzosa, affirmed her country’s keenness to implement the agreements signed with Syria related to economic and cultural exchange, trade, education, investment, protection, tourism, housing and construction, in addition to Memo of Understanding which was signed between the two countries on cooperation in combating cross-border crimes, including combating trafficking in persons.
