PM: Egypt keen to foster cooperation with Italy

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli said Egypt is keen on fostering relations with Italy in different fields to achieve mutual interests, as well as coordinating on all issues of common concern related to the Middle East or the East Mediterranean or at the international level.

Madbouli’s comments came during his meeting on Thursday with Italian Ambassador in Cairo Michele Quaroni.

The premier expressed hope to build in the coming period on the positive momentum created by the recent meeting held between President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, on the sidelines of the UN Climate Change Conference, COP27.

On his part, the Italian ambassador lauded the high-level billateral meetings held in the past period, foremost of which was Sisi-Meloni summit in the Red Sea resort city of Sharm El-Sheikh, as well as the talks between Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry and his Italian counterpart in Rome.

Quaroni and Madbouli explored cooperation opportunities in a number of fields in the coming period, notably the sectors of energy, maritime transport and land reclamation.

The two sides agreed on following up on the mechanisms for activating bilateral cooperation in those areas.
