PM: manufacturing World Cup’s balls is a step to sports products city

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli said on Monday the factory of Forward Egypt, the company which manufactured balls for the World Cup 2022, could be a nucleus for setting up an integrated industrial city for sports products that meet international standards.

In his meeting with Gasser El Sayed, the chairman of the board of directors of Forward Egypt and Assistant General Director of the National Service Projects Authority Saad Abdel Aziz, Madbouli congratulated the two companies’ officials on their cooperation in manufacturing such a distinguished sports product.

The premier said the government is ready for offering support to the company to make this experience a successful national story.

Sayed, for his part, elaborated that Forward Egypt contracted with Adidas to produce 1,500 balls, noting that the factory is the first and only one approved by the international company in the Middle East.

Forward Egypt produces about 3.5 million balls annually, he said, adding the company, which employs 600 Egyptian workers, intends to make its products 100% locally made within a year.
