PM: Presidential directives to expand local manufacturing, give incentives to priority sectors

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli said President Abdel Fattah El Sisi has given directives to accelerate expanding local manufacturing, noting that several meetings have been held with various industrial chambers to support the ministries concerned with the issue.

 

The premier’s remarks were made during a meeting with a number of ministers including Electricity and New and Renewable Energy Minister Mohamed Shaker, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Acting Health Minister Khaled Abdel Ghafar, Minister of Housing Assem El Gazar, Minister of Transport Kamel El Wazir and Minister of Industry and Trade Neveen Gamea.

 

The premier said the size of projects conducted by Egypt in the various sectors are very huge, a matter which requires accelerating the speed of local manufacturing in the various domains.

 

He also asserted that coordination will be expedited with the various industrialization experts to get involved in the process and offer incentives to the sectors of top priority.

 

Meanwhile, Abdel Ghafar asserted that he has been working on coordination with the industry ministry to expand the local manufacturing in some areas in particular to reduce imports such as the food, engineering and pharmaceutical industries.

 

Gamea, for her part, said studies have been conducted in the various sectors to analyze the imports’ lists and the availability of raw materials in order to prepare a full integrated file in this regard along with giving incentives to sectors of top priority.
