Prime Minister Dr. Bishr Khasawneh on Thursday received the annual report of National Commission for International Humanitarian Law for 2022. The PM was briefed by the commission’s chairman, retired Lit. Gen. Mamoun Khasawneh, who handed the report, on its activities aimed to ensure consolidation of the principles and provisions of international humanitarian law and hold specialized workshops to raise awareness and define ways to implement this law at the national level, in addition to exchanging expertise with brotherly and friendly countries in this field. The committee’s head said it contributed to introducing amendments to some legislations locally and launching a course for teaching in law faculties in Jordanian universities. Meanwhile, the PM lauded the committee’s efforts in raising awareness and spreading international humanitarian law in cooperation with the relevant official institutions. The premier also said he will instruct the relevant ministries and government institutions to cooperate with the committee to enable it to perform its role and duties “fully”. In addition, the PM stressed the importance of strengthening plans and strategies aimed at spreading international humanitarian law and mechanisms that help implement it at the national level.
